The brackets are set for the 2016 3A and 4A ASAA State Volleyball Championships scheduled for the Alaska Airlines Cener on the campus of UAA. Tournaments begin play on Thursday, November 10th and run through championship Saturday, November 12th.
3A Volleyball Information
The Nikiski Bulldogs earn the Southcentral Conference #1 seed on the strength of a tournament championship last week, defeating Grace Christian in the championship game. Nikiski will play Monroe Catholic in the tournament’s first round with a scheduled 9:45 a.m. game time. A win for the Bulldogs and Nikiski will advance into the semi-final, winner’s game to play the winner of the Barrow vs Seward contest. A loss in the opening game and Nikiski will play again at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
The double-elimination format allows for teams to suffer one loss and still advance with an opportunity to win the championship.
Teams qualifying to the 3A Volleyball state tournament include: Nikiski, Grace, Seward, Barrow, Monroe, Valdez, Kotzebue and Mt. Edgecombe.

4A Volleyball Information
The 4A Volleyball state tournament includes three qualifiers from the Cook Inlet Conference: South, Dimond and Bartlett; three qualifiers from the Northern Lights Conference: Colony, Wasilla and Palmer; West Valley from the Mid-Alaska Conference; and Juneau from the Southeast Conference.
No teams from the Central Peninsula qualified to the 4A state volleyball tournament.
