The Walgreens set at the “Y” in Soldotna is progressing on schedule.
Green: “We’re going to turn the store, or the entire project, over to them by no later than June 30. To be honest, I don’t know exactly what their opening date is, they don’t share that kind of information with us but I think their intent is to try to open in early July.”
G & S Construction’s Dan Green has been overseeing the project since it began last year and said there is a lot more to it than just the building.
Green: “It’s a complex sight, we have to integrate with the Department of Transportation on the intersection because it has to be changed, and of course there was the 47th street tie in there that offered some challenges, new lift stations, water and sewer, and three new streets, kind of a complex project to be honest with you.”
He said their collaboration with the State DOT to tie in the new street will start within the next month but doesn’t expect major traffic impacts.
