Walker Still Vows to Veto HB 132

Questions have risen about the connection between Governor Bill Walker’s emergency proclamation for confirmations on Friday and his plans to veto the bill which would lock the state into a partnership in the Alaska LNG Project.

His last day to veto that bill will be Saturday.

Gov. Walker: “There’s no connection between the two, I will veto 132. I continue to meet and look at ways, in fact I had a teleconference last night when I talked about a way forward on 132 so that there wouldn’t have to be a veto override. We’ve had multiple meetings with the Speaker and the President of the Senate and I appreciate their willingness to meet regularly on that. They are separate and I hope that by the time I veto it we’ll have reached some sort of understanding so they won’t feel the need to override my veto.”

This week legislators forwarded questions from the public and industry leaders to the Governor, respectfully questioning if he would have a backup for a large diamete pipeline before vetoing House Bill 132.
