Walker Suggests Most Important Bills to Legislature

Governor Bill Walker suggested some bills to work on while legislators are working on a budget agreement.

Walker called the extended session an “excellent opportunity” to address Medicaid expansion and reform in a bill addressed to legislators Wednesday.

He added that many of the other bills already in the Senate’s possession, such as Interior energy needs, child support and school programs on sexual assault awareness and prevention, could be addressed quickly while they are in their holding pattern.

Lawmakers have been focusing on a budget agreement since the extended session began Monday.

During the regular session Walker indicated he would call a special session on Medicaid if it is not addressed by legislators but today leaders indicated they are not planning to take it up at this time.
