Warm Winter, Early Home Shows Kick of Construction

A warm winter and early Home Show officially launched the Kenai Peninsula construction season last weekend.

Randall Nelson with the Kenai Peninsula Builder’s Association oversaw the 36th annual show…

Nelson: “It kinda’ ended up that because of the Brown Bear schedule and a few other things we ended up having to do it the end of March and it happened to be the same weekend as the Anchorage Home Show, so that was a bit of a struggle, there was a few vendors that couldn’t be part of our show because they had to be part of Anchorage, but on the other hand I have talked to a few vendors who had the choice and they actually chose our show and they drove down from Anchorage.”

Nelson said some vendors preferred the more personal atmosphere of the Kenai Peninsula show and the opportunity to spend more time with individual builders and home handymen.

Nelson: “We’re just really excited about it. We had a really great show and there was great attendance. I ran the lounge for all the vendors and got to talk with them all and thank them all for being here and being part of this show, because really we’re all just building  blocks to make this home show.”

Typically, the Home Show and Sport, Rec & Trade Show are scheduled for April; this year the Sport, Rec & Trade Show will be held the first weekend in May.
