Water Levels Require More Time For HEA Crews To Finish Stonehocker Creek Project

Homer Electric Association reports that crews are continuing their work on the final phase to fortify the power poles along Stonehocker Creek on the line that serves the Peterson Bay and Halibut Cove areas.

Bruce Shelley, Director of Member Relations for Homer Electric Association says that unseasonably high water levels in the creek have caused crews to need more time to complete the work, “We’re gonna have some daily power outages for the Halibut Cove and Peterson Bay members, which will start approximately 9:00 AM each morning and lasting until approximately 4:00 PM and that will run Monday through Saturday to do this work. The work over there is on fortifying some power poles that are in the Stonehocker Creek area. We will drive some additional pile there to fortify that line in affecting the Halibut Cove and Peterson Bay members.

HEA reports that work at each pole location takes approximately two days per pole with several more that still need to be done. The project is tentatively scheduled to be finished on or about March 6, 2021. Until then, the outages will continue to occur between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday.

If inclement weather plays a factor in Homer Electric crews working on the project, the Scheduled Outages page on their website will be updated.
