On Monday, the Department of Health and Social Services announced one death of an Alaska resident and 365 new people identified with COVID-19 in Alaska over the past three days. 354 were residents in: Anchorage (119), Wasilla (72), Palmer (28), Fairbanks (27), Eagle River (15), Dillingham Census Area (13), Soldotna (10), Bethel Census Area (8), Chugiak (7), Juneau (6), Ketchikan (6), Valdez (6), North Pole (4), Big Lake (3), Homer (3), Kenai (3), Kodiak (3), Sitka (3), Wrangell (3), Willow (2), Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (2) and one each in Anchor Point, Copper River Census Area, Delta Junction, Girdwood, Healy, Kenai Peninsula Borough North, Nikiski, Seward, Sutton-Alpine and Unalaska.
Eleven new nonresident cases were identified in:
- Anchorage: one with purpose under investigation
- Kodiak: one in ‘other’ industry
- North Slope Borough: one in oil industry
- Valdez: one with purpose under investigation
Locations under investigation: five with purposes under investigation, one in North Slope oil industry and one in ‘other’ industry
Thirty-two resident cases and one nonresident case were added to the dashboard due to data verification procedures bringing the total number of Alaska resident cases to 62,547 and the total number of nonresident cases to 2,633.
HOSPITALIZATIONS & DEATHS – There have been a total of 1,389 resident hospitalizations and 310 resident deaths, with one new hospitalization and one new death reported over the past three days. The individual who died was a male Eagle River resident who was 80 years or older. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
There are currently 39 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and eight additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 47 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Seven of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 4.1%.
TESTING – A total of 1,981,708 tests have been conducted, with 35,411 tests conducted in the previous seven days. The average percentage of daily positive tests for the previous seven days is 2.97%.
ALERT LEVELS – The current statewide alert level, based on the average daily case rate over 14 days per 100,000, is high at 22.1 cases per 100,000. Seven regions of Alaska are in high alert status with widespread community transmission. Three regions are at intermediate alert status with moderate transmission and one region is at low alert with minimal transmission.

- Other Interior Region: 25.51 cases per 100,000
- Anchorage Municipality: 22.64 cases per 100,000
- YK-Delta Region: 20.09 cases per 100,000

- Kenai Peninsula Borough: 15.03 cases per 100,000
- Southwest Region: 10.69 cases per 100,000
Intermediate (>4.8-10 cases/100,000)
- Juneau City and Borough: 8.09 cases per 100,000
- Other Southeast Region – Northern: 7.7 cases per 100,000
- Other Southeast Region – Southern: 6.14 cases per 100,000
Low (0-4.8 cases/100,000)
- Northwest Region: 3.42 cases per 100,000
VACCINATIONS – 44% of Alaskans age 16 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose.
35.6% of Alaskans 16 and older have been fully vaccinated. The higher the vaccination rate, the more protected community members are from COVID-19. See below for percentages of all fully vaccinated Alaskans age 16 and older by region:
