Soldotna AST responded to the beach access off Dunes Road in Kenai on Monday afternoon, for a welfare check on the occupants of a truck stuck in the sand. It was also suspected that there may have been illicit drug use.
Subsequent investigation found Harold Harrington, age 40 of Kenai, hiding in the tall grass along the beach. Harrington had 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Harrington was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and additionally found to be in violation of his conditions of release.
Harrington was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail pending arraignment.
The truck was able to be recovered as the water was reaching high tide.
Harrington has previous convictions for vehicle theft, and driving under the influence.
