What Are Alaska’s Ten Most Endangered Properties? Nominations Are Being Accepted

Author: Jason Lee |

Properties across the state with longstanding histories that help define communities across the state of Alaska and its cultural landscape are under a microscope. As each property ages and becomes threatened, the Alaska Association for Historic Preservation is aiming to bring attention to the most endangered properties in Alaska.

The organization is currently calling for nominations to Alaska’s Ten Most Endangered Historic Properties for 2021. The deadline is April 10, and the list will be announced in early-May as part of Historic Preservation Month.

The nominations are submitted by individuals and organizations throughout the state. The Ten Most Endangered Grant Program funds hands-on preservation work on the endangered properties and leverages funding from other sources.

Properties on the 2021 list will be eligible to apply for a grant to assist with the maintenance of their project. Grant winners will be announced in November.
