Following the EAA Pancake Breakfast on June 7, the 22nd Kenai Peninsula Air Fair will soar into its second day of aviation fun on Saturday, with live music and an aircraft show.
“It’s the most exciting time at the airport,” said Kenai Municipal Airport Manager Derek Ables. “Last year we had about 1,000 people.”
“We get out there and meet the community. Seeing all the looks on kids’ faces when they’re seeing the airplanes and making their wooden planes is pretty awesome.” Said Ables.
The Air Fair will feature aircraft displays, vendors, exhibitor booths, and an EAA Aircraft Show and Shine.
Folks will also enjoy live music from Ellie & the Echoes, a beer and wine garden, and food trucks. “There’s something for everybody,” Ables said.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to walk the tarmac and get an up-close look at the planes.
The Air Fair will take place Saturday, June 14, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kenai Airport Operations Facility, located on North Willow Street in Kenai.
Admission is free.
The Air Fair was initially held on one weekend in the past, but Ables says they split the event into two separate weekends so the pilots could get more involved. “At their request, they wanted to be able to attend both days.”
