The city of Whittier will host a major film in 2015.
Kelly Bender with Whittier Chamber of Commerce said in a meeting with Realativity Media and Sprocketheads production companies this morning they expect production crews to begin in January and end sometime in June.
She said that one of the production’s big priorities is to hire locals and use local businesses.
The film, “Hunter Killer”, is based on a George Wallace novel “Firing Point,” about a U.S. nuclear submarine that faces a Russian sub and Bender said producers chose Whittier because it looks like the Russian Submarine base Polyarny.
We asked Bender if she thinks it would increase tourism to Whittier.
No announcements have been made as to what actors that may be involved in the film but rumors of Gerard Butler in a key role have been heard.
