The Alaska Native Youth Olympics are virtual for 2021 with qualifying done via video and finalists competing virtually for individual championships.
Kenai’s Emilee Wilson won the Girls One Foot High Kick with a championship kick of 82 inches. For the One Foot High Kick, competitors must take-off and land on one foot, kicking a hanging ball. Wilson also finished fourth overall in the Alaska High Kick held early in the Native Youth Olympics competition.
Ninilchik’s Dez Hess finished fourth in the boys competition in the One Foot High Kick with a height of 96″. Christian Gardiner of Dillingham won the Boys One Foot High Kick with a successful 106″ kick ( 8’10” about a foot short of the height of a basketball rim).
