The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory beginning Noon Wednesday until 1am Thursday, for snow and blowing snow for the cities for Kenai, Soldotna, Nikiski, Homer and Cooper Landing.
Snow and blowing snow expected. Blowing snow with winds gusting as high as 40 mph will reduce visibility to a half mile, especially near the Inlet, including the Sterling Highway and Homer Bluff areas. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected.
According to the National Weather Service, the areas that will be impacted the greatest are the Western Kenai Peninsula, mainly near the Inlet, including the Sterling Highway and Homer Bluff.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Expect reduced visibility at times, as well as drifting snow.
A winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling, especially in open areas.
The National Weather Service also issued a winter weather advisory beginning Noon on Wednesday until 5pm Thursday, for Snow and blowing snow for Whittier, Seward, Girdwood, and Moose Pass. Winds to 35 mph with higher gusts will reduce visibility to one half mile. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected with higher amounts possible in Turnagain Pass and Portage Valley.
According to the National Weather Service, the areas that will be impacted the greatest are the Western Prince William Sound including the Seward Highway from Portage Valley through Turnagain Pass to Seward.
