The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th, through 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 9th for Western Prince William Sound.
This also includes the cities of Whittier, Seward, Moose Pass, and Turnagain Pass.
Snow is expected, with total snow accumulation reaching up to 14 inches, and winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
Snow and strong southeasterly winds will move into the western Kenai Peninsula Thursday evening. Warming temperatures will cause snow to change over to rain between Thursday night and Friday morning from Moose Pass south to Seward. A rapid changeover to rain is similarly expected near Whittier by Friday morning. The highest snowfall accumulation will occur through Turnagain Pass where precipitation will all fall as snow.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
Slow down and use caution while traveling.
