The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24th, through 1:00 a.m. Sunday, February 25th for Western Prince William Sound.

This also includes the cities of Whittier, Seward, and Moose Pass.

Blowing snow is to be expected, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Visibility will be reduced to as low as one half mile.

Several inches of snow are expected for Whittier and along the Seward Highway Corridor through early Saturday afternoon. As the snow tapers off, westerly winds will quickly increase with gusts reaching 45 mph around Whittier. The combination of new snow and gusty winds will result in blowing snow with significantly reduced visibility. Areas of blowing snow are also likely along the Seward Highway corridor south to Seward. However, any reduction in visibility is expected to stay above one half mile.

Plan on difficult travel conditions. Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility.

Drivers are asked to slow down and use caution while traveling.
