The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday from Soldotna to Nikiski. Snow, freezing rain, and rain is expected with total accumulations of up to 4 inches possible. Total ice accumulationi of up to one tenth of an inch.
Plan on slippery road conditions as the hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
Additionally, the precipitation will begin as snow on Monday morning, then transition to freezing rain and rain from south to north during the afternoon hours. Snow will hold on longest right along the Cook Inlet, with the highest accumulation likely in the Nikiski area. Precipitation could then change back to snow Monday night before ending on Tuesday, but expect little or no accumulation.
