The National Weather Service has extended its Winter Weather Advisory for the Western Kenai Peninsula. It was set to expire at 6:00 a.m. but has since been extended to 12:00 noon. More blowing snow is expected with additional accumulation around 3 inches. Visibility reduced to one half mile at times in blowing snow.

The worst conditions for the snow are expected along the Sterling Highway from Nikiski to Anchor Point. Plan on slippery road conditions and greatly reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Snow and areas of blowing snow will be possible for inland areas, however the combination of winds gusting to 30 mph and falling snow, will produce the worst conditions near Cook Inlet.
