Winter Weather Making Black Friday Commute Difficult

The winter weather that has hit the Kenai Peninsula for Thanksgiving is making driving on this Black Friday difficult.

 

A Nixle advisory explains that difficult winter driving conditions are being experienced on the Seward Highway between mile 30 (Moose Pass) and 75 (Ingram Creek). Deep snow and stuck vehicles are making travel in this area difficult. Plan ahead to allow extra time and make sure you have safety provisions in your vehicle.

 

The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports that the Kenai Peninsula is under a Winter Weather Advisory till 6:00 p.m. this evening. Forecasters call for snow accumulations of 6 t0 12 inches.

 

IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the and evening commutes.

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A band of snow over the western Kenai Peninsula is causing moderate snow today. This band will remain nearly stationary for much of the day, leading to steady snow through the afternoon. The snow band will dissipate this evening.
