A wanted woman was found trying to hide in the trunk of a 99 Chevvy Cavalier last Sunday after Troopers stopped the vehicle for a moving violation.
It was just after 8pm when the vehicle was pulled over by Anchor Point Troopers at mile 142 of the Sterling Highway. Officers observed a person attempting to crawl into the trunk of the Cavalier with only their legs visible. That person was later identified as 27-year-old Madison J. Chacon of Anchorage who was removed from the trunk. Chacon attempted to conceal her identity by providing Troopers with a false name and identification card, but she was known to officers and her true identity was quickly determined.
Chacon was found to have an active warrant for her arrest stemming from a theft charge. She was arrested on the warrant and also charged with providing false information to troopers to avoid being arrested on the warrant.
Chacon was transported to the Homer Jail where she was held on a total of $1,000 bail.
