Wrestlers Close Regular Season At Grace Grizzly Shakedown

The final opportunity to get matches in their desired weight-classes and a final opportunity to maybe move-up in the upcoming seeding for conference wrestling tournaments was provided wrestlers from 24 different teams from throughout Alaska at the Grace Grizzly Shakedown Tournament.

 

Conference wrestling tournaments are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 10th and 11th.

The Soldotna Stars will travel to Kodiak for the Northern Lights Conference Wrestling Championships to compete against Kodiak, Colony, Palmer and Wasilla.

Kenai Central, Nikiski, Seward and Homer will compete at the Kachemak Conference Wrestling Championships at Houston High School.

 

Grace Grizzly Shakedown Tournament  

The Soldotna Stars finished fourth overall in the boys team scoring, in-spite-of, holding many top wrestlers out of the competition.  South topped the team scoring with 196 points followed by Palmer, Colony and SoHi.

 

The best competition for local wrestlers may have been in the girls division.

135 lbs.  Daisy Hannevold, 3rd

145 lbs.  Trinity Donovan,  1st

Kenai Central

160 lbs.  Simone Watts,  1st

 

In the boys’ varsity, top five finishes included:

103 lbs.  Jacob Strausbaugh,  3rd

125 lbs.  Ezekiel Miller,  2nd

145 lbs.  Isaac Chavarria,  1st

145 lbs.  Logan Duyck,  4th

189 lbs.  Hunter Richardson,  1st
