Wrestling Hall of Fame Inducts Three From Peninsula Into Class of 2018

The Alaska Wrestling Hall of Fame inducted the Class of 2018 at a ceremony held in December during the ASAA State Wrestling Championships.

 

Five honorees for the Class of 2018 represent past wrestlers, coaches and individuals recognized for each’s contribution to Alaska wrestling.  Three of the five new members have strong ties to the Kenai Peninsula.

 

The Alaska Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2018 includes:

Michaela Hutchison (Skyview High School): 1st Female Alaska State Champion;  Winner of WCWA Women’s College National Titles.  Hutchison is currently  assistant wrestling coach for McKendree University in Illinois.

Dan Carstens (Kodiak High School):  2x NAIA All American, Academic All American and 1995 NAIA National Champion.  Carstens is currently principal at Nikiski Middle/High School supporting Alaska wrestling at administrative level.

Chris Perk (Homer High School):  Alaska State Freestyle Champion,  Alaska State Champion, and a two-time NAIA Collegiate All-American.  Perk is currently coach of the 2018 Division II State Champion Homer Mariners.
