Wrestling State Tournaments Set Schedule

The 2015 ASAA State Wrestling Championships, two, concurrent tournaments including the 1-2-3A and the 4A divisions, will be contested Friday and Saturday, December 18-19 with the 1-2-3A tournament held at Bartlett High School and the 4A tournament holding morning rounds at Chugiak and semi-finals and finals at Bartlett.

4A State Qualifiers ( Kenai & SoHi)

Seth Hutchison, a senior at SoHi, won his fourth-straight state wrestling championship; Seth won the 126-pound title with a narrow 5-4 decision in the championship match.

Gideon Hutchison, a freshman for the Stars, captured his first conference title with a pin in the 106-pound championship match.

Kenai senior Zack Koziczkowski recorded a pin over SoHi’s Dalton Best in the 285-pound championship pairing.

In the girls championship final, Kenai’s Natalie Chavez won by pin in the 106-pound division.

Additional state qualifiers representing SoHi and Kenai to ASAA 4A State Wrestling Championships (unofficial until released by ASAA):

2nd Place Finisher: SoHi Dalton Best, 285 lb.

Third Place Finishers: SoHi Logan Craig, 98 lb.; SoHi Bechler Metcalf, 145 lb.; Kenai Keyshawn McEnerney, 152 lb.; SoHi E. VanHout, 160 lb.: SoHi Austin Schraeder, 170; SoHi P. Wilcox, 195 lb.

4th Place Finishers: SoHi Abraham VanHout, 152 lb.

5th Place Finishers: SoHi L. Sullivan, 98 lb.; Kenai J. Anderson, 126 lb.; Kenai B. Dunham, 160 lb.;

 

1-2-3A State Qualifiers (Nikiski)

Nikiski senior TJ Cox won the 120-pound division with a technical fall victory in the final match.

Bulldog senior Nathan Carstens captured the 170-pound division, recording a 5-4 decision in the championship match.

Senior Luke Johnson was crowned 285-pound champion, receiving a medical forfeit in the final match.

Additional state qualifiers representing Nikiski to ASAA 1-2-3A State Wrestling Championships (unofficial until released by ASAA):

2nd Place Finisher: Justin Cox, 138 lb.; Warren Gage, 182 lb.

Third Place Finishers: Gabe Smith, 106 lb.; Dylan Broussard, 170 lb.; Tyler Litke, 220 lb.

4th Place Finishers: Malcolm Yerkes, 98 lb.;  Dustin Mullins, 160 lb.
