Nikiski voters will decide on Tuesday if they agree with the terms of a Law Enforcement Service Area which would create a board to regulate it.
That service area would raise Nikiski’s mill rate no more than 1.5 mills and elect five members to provide recommendations on how that revenue would be allocated for public safety.
Five candidates will appear on the ballot for Nikiski voters: Ben Carpenter, Ann Dooley-Krogseng, Phil Nash, Norman Olson, and Nancy Whiting.
Seat B Candidate Krogseng passed away in an ATV accident on September 25 and if elected, the borough mayor will appoint someone to that seat.
At this week’s community meeting on the proposed LESA three community members declared their write-in campaigns for Seat B.
Jason Ross, Pete Piccini, and Tim Colbath say they are willing to represent the community on the board.
