After the Soldotna City Council voted down an ordinance for the Youth Restoration Corps to install a trail around Arc Lake the group has decided not to further pursue the project.
YRC Board Chair Kelly Wolf said Arc Lake is surrounded by pieces of land belonging to not only the borough but the city of Soldotna also and getting all agencies to agree on the trail has been difficult.
After the most recent failure of the ordinance by the council, Wolf said there isn’t enough time to continue pursuing that project and the Corps has moved on to another project.
Wolf: “We’re actually pursuing a public access trail out to spirit lake, Salmantof Native Association said they’re interested in allowing us to improve public access, we have state fish and game written letter of support so we’re pursuing that project.”
He said they should know in the next few weeks if they get that project and if they do they can start work on it next spring.
