Yukon Quest Race Changes Start and Finish Due to Warm Temps

Author: KSRM News Desk |

As we reported earlier, Alaska’s warm weather is breaking records and having detrimental effects on winter sports.

Now the warm weather has made the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race change the start and finish locations, both of which were on rivers.

Due to unstable river ice and dangerous trail conditions, mushers will now start the race on 2nd Ave in downtown Fairbanks and end the race on Takhini Hot Springs on the Hot Springs Road. Crews will truck in snow to 2nd Ave. for the start of the race in Fairbanks.
