Centennial Park Boat Launch to Implement BOF Change

Anyone fishing at the Soldotna Centennial Boat Launch will not be able to fish in the lagoon due to changes implemented by the Board of Fish.

Director of Soldotna Parks and Rec Andrew Carmichael gave us more details.

Carmichael: “There was a regulation put into place to not allow fishing in the Centennial Lagoon from July 1 through August 30.”

Carmichael said that due to previous issues the City of Soldotna had an ordinance in place but the question of jurisdiction led them to make the proposal to the Board of Fish.

Carmichael: “It was easier and cleaner to work with the fish board and say ok, we’ve got a challenging situation these times of year, the rest of the times of year everything’s fine but not for this time. So then the proposal that the City moved forward was accepted and put into regulation.”
