President Biden’s Build Back Better bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday. The $1.75 trillion spending bill makes investments in education, labor, child care, health care, taxes, immigration, and the environment.

Alaska’s Congressman Don Young released a statement saying that he did not vote for the bill:

Among the many provisions that the bill provides funding for, they include management of the National Forest System, job placement and career services, safe drinking water, energy-efficiency, and weatherization projects, electric vehicles and zero-emission, heavy-duty vehicles, public health infrastructure and supply chain resiliency, among others.

The social spending package now goes to the Senate, which could be difficult as Republicans outweigh Democrats in the Senate 50 to 48, not including two independents.
