Enstar’s Funny River natural gas project is still on schedule despite running into a minor setback while trying to bore under the river.

South Division Manager Charlie Pierce explained the setback.

Pierce: “Under this area of the river the rocks were larger than anticipated so what we did was the contractor that we hired backed out and brought in a larger drill unit, in fact that drill unit is arriving today on the peninsula and it’ll be staged by later today in the area and they should be drilling by late Tuesday, early Wednesday and we should be taking a second attempt at installing a gas line under the river.”

Pierce also said that after the river bore is done there are about four more bores, a new station to put in, and then Enstar will tie-in the Scout Lake  line.

Pierce: “Once that’s completed I would say the end of May, June at the earliest gas would be available on that line, we’ll turn it on, activate the line.”
