The Division of Forestry responded to a fire near the village of Nikolaevsk at around 3:00 pm.

Andy Alexandrou detailed the fire which has already been contained.

Alexandrou: “Turned out to be one acre in size, mutual aid, Anchor Point VFDs were there, Kachemak Bay VFDs were there, and three engines from Forestry responded along with the Helitech crew.”

He added that that this fire along with both the Sandra Fire last week and the Funny River fire have all been determined to be human caused however all are still under investigation and urged people to use caution.

Alexandrou: “And we lifted the burn suspension and debris burning is ok, or is legal again but we really really want to caution people to be savvy with that.”
