Houston Remains Unbeaten With 40-6 Win Over Kenai

Control the line of scrimmage and you control the game–case in point, the Houston Hawks.

 

The Houston Hawks dominated both the offensive and defensive line powering the Hawks to a 40-6 victory over the Kenai Kardinals on Saturday at KCHS, the Kardinals homecoming game and Kenai’s third Mid-Alaska Conference game.  Houston improved to 6-0 and the Kardinals drop to 4-3 and 1-2 in the Mid-Alaska Conference.

The Kenai Kardinals struggled to move the football against a Houston defense which was anchored by a powerful front four and recorded at least 10 sacks of Kenai quarterback Bridger Beck.

The Hawks scored on three, first half drives and three, second half touchdowns.

Trailing 34-0, the Kardinals scored  on a touchdown pass from Beck to Wade James in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, Bridger Beck forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass for the Kardinals.

Houston earns the #1 seed from the Mid-Alaska Conference into the Division III football playoffs.  Houston faces Redington next week to close the regular season.

 

The Kenai Kardinals host Mid-Alaska Conference Barrow on Saturday, October 1st at KCHS in the regular season finale’.  The winner of the Kardinals vs Barrow game will earn the conference third seed to the Division III playoffs.
