As of 11:59pm Sunday night the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge closed to snow machine use due to lack of snow.
A press release stated that if the area receives some snow cover there is a chance of reopening since it is still so early in the year.
The Refuge joined the Chugach National Forest who closed their popular snow machining areas to use as of January 24 for the same reason.
