No Survivors In Fairbanks Plane Crash

Two people have been killed after a Douglas DC-4 airplane crashed outside of Fairbanks on Tuesday morning.

 

The Alaska State Troopers and local, state, and federal partners responded to the scene on the Tanana River near Kallenberg Road in Fairbanks when they initially received reports of the plane crash after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

 

The DC-4 crashed around seven miles south of Fairbanks International Airport. A preliminary investigation revealed that the plane crashed into the Tanana River after taking off from FIA at 9:55 a.m. with two people on board. The aircraft slid into a steep hill on the river’s bank, where it caught fire.

 

No survivors were located.

 

The NTSB also responded and is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.

 

The Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Department of Public Safety HELO 2, University of Alaska Police, Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire, Fairbanks Police Department, Esther Volunteer Fire Department, Chena Goldstream Volunteer Fire Department, and RCC all responded to the scene.

 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
