NWS Says Snow Showers Are Expected For East Turnagain Pass

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a winter weather advisory for the East Turnagain Arm, including the cities of Girdwood, Portage, Whitter, Seward, and Moose Pass.

 

It is expected to have moderate to heavy snow showers.

 

This advisory is in effect now through Tuesday, March 12th in the afternoon.

 

According to the NWS, bands of moderate to heavy snow showers will continue through Tuesday afternoon along the Seward Highway from Bird Point south to the Hope Cuttoff and Portage Glacier Road through Whittier. Snowfall rates greater than one inch an hour are possible along with visibility reductions of one-quarter mile or less at times.

 

Snow accumulations of 12 to 20 inches are possible with higher totals expected near Portage.

 

Travel conditions may be difficult through these areas.
