The National Weather Service has forecast temperatures dropping in low areas of the peninsula.
Jason Ahsenmacher with the weather service said other than the cold temps on Saturday night and Sunday morning, the holiday weekend weather is looking pleasant.
Ashenmacher: “It’s not really going to be a well defined cold front, just cooler air moving in from the northwest, that’s gonna really start to kick in tomorrow/tomorrow night. We’ere going to see low temperature with clearing skies and temperatures dropping right around freezing along the inlet specially by Soldotna.”
He added a light frost may develop Saturday night or Sunday morning but not a real freeze.
Anyone camping over the weekend should keep layers in mind.
