Strong winds continue to cause power outages around the Kenai Peninsula this afternoon, Friday February 7th.
Joe Gallagher with HEA gave us a recent update as of 5:00 pm.
Gallagher: “As of 5 o’clock, Homer Electric Association continues to respond to numerous power outages throughout the Kenai Peninsula due to the strong winds that have hit the area today. Right now, again, as of about 5 o’clock we have approximately 40 separate outages, and in total probably approximately 2,000 HEA members that do not have power. These are spread across the Kenai Peninsula. The outages themselves, the individual outages, are not very large, but there are, as I mentioned several of them, 40 approximately. We anticipate it will take HEA crews all night and probably into tomorrow morning before we are able to completely fix all the problems and have everybody restored with power.”
We will continue to keep the most up to date information about wind damages and power outages throughout tonight and over the weekend.
