Wylie Earns National Ranking For H.S. Girls Wrestling

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame, USA Wrestling and FloWrestling have released the second National Girls High School rankings for the 2018-19 season.

 

Amanda Wylie, junior wrestler for Soldotna High School, has been ranked 18th in the 152-pound weight class on the National Wrestling Hall of Fame girls state wrestling rankings.

 

Amanda placed second in the 160-pound weight class at the 2018 Alaska state championships.

 

This ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 9-12, and includes athletes from all 50 states. There are 14 states which sponsor official or emerging girls state high school championships, while many other states are also developing their girls high school program.

 

Alaska is among the states that sponsor a state championship for girls wrestling; the ASAA State Wrestling Championships were held December 14-15.

144 lb.  McKenzie Cook, senior at Homer High School   11th
117 lb.  Elizabeth Schumaker, sophomore at North Pole High School  20th
132 lb.  Shelby Ottum, junior at South Anchorage High School  14th
152 lb.  Madison Ellis, sophomore at South Anchorage High School  9th
180 lb.  Jayleen Sekona, sophomore at South Anchorage High School  13th
225 lb.  Debranna Bealer, Freshman at Eielson High School  16th
