Following a scoreless first period, the Soldotna hockey team erupted for five, second period goals and added two, third period goals for a 7-0 shutout of the Kenai Kardinals in Railbelt Conference hockey action on Wednesday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
SoHi 7 – Kenai 2
The Soldotna Stars and Kenai Kardinals skated even through one period of conference hockey. SoHi opened the scoring with an Alex Montague goal, followed by an Ethan Yeager goal and a 2-0 SoHi lead just 2:22 in to the second. Braxton Urban scored midway through the second and Galen Brantley III added a goal, followed by a short-handed goal by Wyatt Medcoff to close the period. In the third, Medcoff scored his second goal and Sam Skolnik closed the scoring. Final Score: SoHi 7 – Kenai 0
The Soldotna Stars improve to 7-1 in the Railbelt Conference; Kenai drops to 1-7. The Stars and Kardinals have an off-weekend and return to conference play next week to close-out the regular season.
