Baseball & Softball Open Full Weekend

The Soldotna Star baseball team rolled over the Houston Hawks, the Kenai softball girls split a doubleheader with Palmer and the Kodiak girls took a pair from SoHi; all as baseball and softball take to the local fields.

 

SoHi Baseball 14 – Houston 3

The Stars run-ruled Houston 14-3 in just five innings on Thursday at the Soldotna Field.  Levi Mickelson earned the win with 3 1/3 innings allowing no runs; Andrew Pieh closed the final inning on the mound.  Evan Appelhans lead the SoHi offense with four RBI and a 4 for 4 day at the plate.

 

Kenai Softball 5 – Palmer 9

The Moose took game one of the softball doubleheader at Kenai 9-5 over the Kardinals.  Palmer’s Camryn pitched all seven innings allowing five runs and Frank went 4 for 4 at the plate.

Kenai Softball 11 – Palmer 7

The Kenai girls plated four runs in the seventh inning to break a 7-7 tie and down the Bears 11-7 in game two of the doubleheader.  Kenai’s Kailey Stynsberg finished 3 for 5 and Avery Ellis went 5 for 5 with four RBI.

 

SoHi Softball 4 – Kodiak 13

The Stars fell behind 4-0 in the first inning and never recovered in a 13-4 loss to the Kodiak Bears in game one of the Thursday doubleheader.

SoHi Softball 11 – Kodiak 22

Kodiak again jumped on the Stars early, leading 8-0 after four innings in a 22-11 run-rule victory in five innings.  SoHi’s Alyssa McDonald recorded four RBI, including a solo home run, and went 3 for 4 at the plate.

Softball: SoHi vs Kodiak @ SLL Field   10 a.m.

Softball: Kenai vs Kodiak   2 p.m.

Baseball:  SoHi vs Kodiak @ SoHi Field   2 p.m.

Baseball: Kenai vs Houston @ Kenai Field  1 p.m.
