Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week of April 30th:
- For the Kenai Kardinals is track and field athlete Greg Fallon
- Fallon earned 1st place and the school record in men’s 800 – 1:55.95 seconds @ Soldotna Invite
- For the Nikiski Bulldogs is track and field athlete Ryder Maguire
- Maguire had PRs in both the 800 and 1600 this week, recording a couple of third-place finishes. He is a driven, competitive, and coachable young athlete. He is doing very well as a freshman, and we are excited to see him progress.
- For the Soldotna Stars is soccer player Luke Hillyer
- Hillyer has been rock solid in net this year, posting a shutout in 4 out of the 5 games played.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week; each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
