CIA Soccer Wins 4th Straight Borealis Tournament

The 2014 Borealis Conference Soccer Tournament, which serves as the state championships for the fall, ASAA sanctioned, small school soccer championship. crowned the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles champions following three days of competition at Palmer High School.

The Eagles win their fourth-straight Borealis Tournament and completed their second-straight, undefeated season.

CIA defeated Delta in the championship game 6-0.

Cook Inlet held every opponent in the Borealis Tournament scoreless.

 

Tournament Game Recap: Games in reverse order, championship game first.

CIA 6 – Delta 0:  Johnny Smithwick, 3 goals; Timmy Smithwick, 2 goals; Andrew Hammond, one goal

CIA 8 – Lumen Christi 0: Timmy Smithwick and Connor Leaf, 3 goals each; Johnny Smithwick and Emma Lyons, one goal each

CIA 9 – Wasilla Lake 0:  Two goals each for Johnny Smithwick, Andrew Hammond, Connor Leaf; one goal each for Timmy Smithwick, Madison Orth and Riley Smithwick

CIA 4 – Tri Valley 0: Timmy Smithwick, 3 goals; Andrew Hammond, one goal

CIA 13 – Nenana 0: Timmy Smithwick scored five goals, Connor Leaf had four goals, Andrew Hammond added two goals, Madison Orth scored a goal and Brady Hammond had a goal.

 

Borealis Conference Post-Season Awards

Borealis Tournament All-Tournament Team: Riley  Smithwick and Ashleigh Hammond- Co MVP (both are defenseman); Noah Leaf, Connor Leaf, Timmy Smithwick, Brady Hammond and Madison Orth

Borealis All-Conference Team (regular season): Timmy Smithwick and Madison Orth-MYP’s, Riley Smithwick, Connor Leaf and Brady Hammond.
