The combined Region II and Region III Cross Country Running Championships feature competition for girls and boys varsity runners in two divisions with all races being held on the Tsalteshi Trails at Skyview Middle School on Saturday, October 1st.
Racing By Division
The Region III schools will compete in divisional varsity races.
The Region III-Division II schools (ACS, Houston, Homer, Grace, Kenai, ,Seward and Redington) racing along with the Region II schools in the girls 11:30 a.m. and boys 12:30 p.m. races.
Region III- Division I schools (Colony, Kodiak, Palmer and Soldotna) will compete in the girls varsity race at noon and the boys varsity race at 1 p.m.
State Qualifying
The top four (3A) schools and top three (4A) schools will qualify for the ASAA state meet. In each Division (3A and
4A) anyone who places in the top fifteen individually who is not on a team that qualifies to the ASAA state championships will also qualify.
Tournament Scoring
All competitors in the varsity races, who finish the race, shall be ranked and tallied according to their place. The
team score shall then be determined by totaling the points scored by the first five finishers.
All competitors in the open races will be scored and team scores shall be kept and be recognized at the awards ceremony.
