Kenai recorded a second, Railbelt Conference victory over the Kodiak Bears and the Soldotna Stars dropped a second, non-divisional game to Chugiak on Saturday in high school hockey.
Kenai 9 – Kodiak 2
Kenai scored four, first period goals and added four second period goals on the Kardinals way to a 9-2 Railbelt Conference hockey victory on Saturday at the Kenai Multipurpose Facility.
Logan Mese recorded five goals, Landon Cialek notched three goals and Avery Martin added a single goal. The Kardinals allowed a Kodiak goal in the first minute of the first period and a Bear goal midway through the second period.
Levi Crawford recorded 16 saves for the Kardinals as Kenai improves to 2-0 in the Railbelt Conference standings.
Soldotna Drops Pair To Chugiak
The Soldotna Stars battled Chugiak in non-divisional hockey over the weekend with the Chugiak Mustangs taking two from the Stars.
Chugiak traveled to the SRSC as the #1 team in the Division I Cook Inlet Conference and the Mustangs defeated the Stars 3-1 and 5-1.
On Friday, Daniel Heath scored mid-way through the second period for SoHi’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the Mustangs.
Saturday, Blake Bucho scored in the third period for the Stars as Chugiak posted a 5-1 victory.
Tanner Clyde and Jackson Purcell combined for 50 saves in goal for the Stars as SoHi was outshot 55- 23.
