Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week ending January 30th:
- Representing the Kenai Kardinals is volleyball player Greg Fallon
- Fallon won the Kenai Classic 6-kilometer boys race in 16:37.
- Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is basketball player Alexa Iyatunguk
- Iyatunguk averaged 10 points a game over the weekend (9, 11, 10) and shot 75% from the Free Throw line 12/16.
- Selected for the Soldotna Stars is cheerleader Izaiah Gilbert
- Gilbert led the Stars in scoring over the weekend in route to winning the Revolution Sport and Spine Therapy Al Howard Shootout.
