Stars Crowned NSC Champions: SoHi and Wasilla Advance To State

SoHi wins the 2014 North Star Conference Hockey championship defeating Wasilla 3-2 in four overtimes.  SoHi’s Kenny Griffin scored the game winner in the game’s fourth, overtime period.

The Stars trailed 1-0 after one period; SoHi lead 2-1 after two with goals by Kenny Griffin and Ty Fenton; and Wasilla tied the game at 2-2 by the end of regulation.  Griffin scored the game winner with 2:38 remaining in the fourth overtime.  Wasilla outshot SoHi 58-20 for the contest.  Cody Harvey turned-away 56 shots for the Stars.

 

SoHi and Wasilla advance to the ASAA 4A State Hockey Championships scheduled for February 13-15 at the Wasilla Sports Complex.

The Stars open against the #3 seed from the Cook Inlet Conference, the Chugiak Mustangs.  Game time set for 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13th.

Kenai 1 – Wasilla 8   Wasilla scored six, unanswered goals in third period.

SoHi 3 – Colony 2  2OT  Preston Weeks scores :13 seconds into second overtime.
