Stars Hold-Off Homer: Kenai Controls Seward

Volleyball action featured non-divisional and conference pairings in advance of the West Spiketacular weekend.

 

SoHi 3 – Homer 2

Back and forth volleyball forced a game-five thriller between the visiting Homer Mariners and the Soldotna Stars volleyball team on the Stars home court on Tuesday night.

SoHi wins an extended final game 18-16 battling back from a pair of match points.  SoHi downed Homer 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, 22-25 and 18-16 in non-divisional volleyball.

Katelyn Morrison recorded 17 kills for SoHi, including the match-winning final attack. Setter Nicole Dickinson recorded 40 assists and Karley Johnson added 11 kills for the Stars.  Izzy Dye notched 13 kills for the Mariners.

The Stars and Mariners will play in the state-wide West Spiketacular with matches Friday and Saturday, September 16-17 in Anchorage.

 

Kenai 3 – Seward 0

The Kenai volleyball team earned a Southcentral Conference victory over the Seward Seahawks in Seward on Tuesday, sweeping the Seahawks 25-18, 25-21 and 27-25.  Emma Beck recorded 14 kills and Cali Holmes added 12 kills with Jorgi Phillips recording 26 assists.

The Kardinals improve to 2-0 in the SCC standings.

Kenai will play in West Spiketacular with matches Friday and Saturday, September 16-17 in Anchorage.
