SoHi Defense Leads Stars To Commanding Victory Over Wasilla

The Soldotna Stars defense, on the strength of four take-aways in the first six Warrior possessions, dominated play in a 48-14 SoHi victory over the Wasilla Warriors in Northern Lights Conference football action on Friday night in Wasilla.

 

SoHi 48 – Wasilla 14

A fumble recovery scooped-up for a defensive touchdown for SoHi’ Gehret Medcoff opened the NLC pairing and the Stars totaled two fumble recoveries and two interceptions in the first half enroute to a 48-14 Stars victory over the Warriors.

Just :59 seconds into the game, the SoHi defense put the Stars on the board, a preview of the Stars dominance to come.  SoHi forced a fumble on Wasilla’s second possession, forced the Warriors to punt twice; then recorded two interceptions, one for Zeek Miller and one by Lokeni Wong.

Meanwhile, the Soldotna offense scored on four-straight possessions for a 35-0 halftime lead.  The Stars added two, third quarter touchdowns for a 48-0 lead.  A pair of late scores for the Warriors closed the gap to a 48-14 final score.

Upcoming Schedule

SoHi improves to 7-0 on the regular season and 3-0 in the Northern Lights Conference.  The Stars secure a playoff spot with the victory over Wasilla.

The Stars close the regular season with a home, conference game against Eagle River on Saturday, October 1st.
