Twins Split Home Doubleheader With South: Oilers Open Home Series Against Monarchs Friday

The Post 20 Twins American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader against South Anchorage on Thursday, opening the regular season for the Twins.

South 8 – Post 20 6  (league)

In game one, the league contest, South Anchorage opened up a three run lead before the Twins posted two runs in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Hector Rivera and Kenny Griffen.  The Twins took a lead in the fourth scoring Justin Wisnewski and Travis Covey for a 4-3 Post 20 lead.  South Anchorage built an 8-4 lead into the seventh inning.  The Twins scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, plating Rivera and Griffen.  Final Score: South 8 – Twins 6 in seven inning Alaska Legion Baseball league game.

Post 20 10 – South 2 (non-league)

The Twins defeated South 10-2 in the non-league, seven inning contest .  The Twins posted 17 hits.

 

 New divisions for 2014

The Alaska American Legion has realigned the landscape of Alaska for legion baseball beginning with the 2014 season.  Four new teams are formed representing areas covered by American Legion posts, including new teams in Palmer, Fairbanks, Juneau and Ketchikan.

The National Division: Kenai Post 20, Kodiak, Palmer, Chugiak, Eagle River, Bartlett, Fairbanks Post 30, and Fairbanks 11., Kenai, Kodiak and Palmer.

The American Division: Service, East, Dimond, Wasilla, South, West, Juneau and Ketchikan.

 

Oilers Host Monarchs Beginning Friday

The Peninsula Oilers open a four-game, home series against the Lake Erie Monarchs on Friday, June 13th at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Friday’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Saturday is Elks Night: Free Admission and a Flag Day Ceremony   Game time: 7:00 p.m.

Sunday is Old Town Bingo Day: Free Admission and baseball bingo game  Game time: 2:00 p.m.
