Kardinals Spoil Redington Homecoming With Conference Victory Over Huskies

The Kenai Kardinals rallied from a 14-point deficit to overtake the Redington Huskies 27-14 in Mid-Alaska Conference football at Redington High School on Friday night.

Kenai quarterback Bridger Beck lead the Kenai attack passing for over 250 yards and one touchdown; both Luke Armstrong and Wade James amassing over 100 yards receiving.

Running back Reagan Graves score two rushing touchdowns on 5-yard and 10-yard runs.  The Kardinals scored three, second half touchdowns: two by Graves and an 8-yard touchdown pass from Beck to Armstrong.

Defensively, Armstrong intercepted two passes, returning the first 25 yards for a pick-six touchdown to draw the Kardinals to within a score at 14-7 Redington.  Graves also recorded an interception for the Kenai defense.

 

The Kardinals improve to 4-2 on the regular season and 1-1 in the Mid-Alaska Conference.  The conference owns three automatic berths to the Division III state playoffs.  Homer clinch a berth with a 58-20 win over Barrow and a 3-1 conference record; Houston stands at 2-0 in conference play with a game against the Kardinals next week at KCHS.

 

Division III Playoff Update

The Seward Seahawks defeated Eielson 28-7 in Denali Conference football on Saturday.

The Seahawks improve to 1-0 in the conference; the Ravens drop to 0-2 in the league.

There are only three teams in The Denali Conference has only three active programs in 2022 and the conference owns one automatic berth to the DIII playoffs.  Nikiski will host Seward on Friday, September 30th for the Denali Conference title and the one spot to the DIII playoffs.
